The journal title refers to my use of GNU Image Manipulation Program {
www.gimp.org/}.
I have always liked the idea of a completely open source, completely no-cost alternative to Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.
I have used it quite a few times since it's creation; but it has never before been my primary image editor. Now that it is my main image editor, I have spent a lot of time getting acquainted with it abilities, and it interface, and I sadly have to admit that it is not as intuitive as the "big name" image editors, and in some respects {the text tool immediately comes to mind...} it is still very primitive. It is also very capable when doing standard image editing/manipulation.
For me to truly like am image editor, it must also be able to create visual art. {I loved Painter, and ArtRage for their creative abilities!} I think that GIMP works very well for creation of new visual art.
Here are a few images that I have created using GIMP 2.8.0
I'll admit that I have been spoiled by the large number of plug ins that I had collected for Photoshop; but I am pleased to see that I am still able to create artworks without them.
