I have always liked the idea of a completely open source, completely no-cost alternative to Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.
I have used it quite a few times since it's creation; but it has never before been my primary image editor. Now that it is my main image editor, I have spent a lot of time getting acquainted with it abilities, and it interface, and I sadly have to admit that it is not as intuitive as the "big name" image editors, and in some respects {the text tool immediately comes to mind...} it is still very primitive.
